Museums

There are many popular museums in Eskilstuna. Here is a short introduction to some of them. 

The Ebeling Museum
The Ebeling Museum is situated at Eskilstunavägen 5. It has a permanent exhibition of the art of Allan and Marianne Ebeling and photos from the archives of the photographer Bäckstrand. There are also temporary exhibitions and guided tours are available.

Eskilstuna Art Museum
The collection is mainly from the 20th century and includes works of artists such as Albin Amelin, Sigrid Hjertén, Otte Sköld, Sven x:et Erixon and many more. Free entrance.

Faktoriet
Faktoriet is an industrial and technology museum. On the first Sunday of every month (except Dec-Jan) there is a live steam demonstration with some of the historic steam engines working.

The museum also has a variety of temporary exhibitions. In the experience room, Faktotum, visitors can try out experiments that have links to traditional and modern industry in Eskilstuna.

Lagersbergs säteri
This is one of Sweden’s best preserved Caroline manor houses from the beginning of the 18th century. It is situated in Lagersberg just outside Eskilstuna. You can also visit two furnished farmers’ apartments.

Munktell museum
The Munktell museum is situated by the Eskilstuna River and shows Swedish industrial history from the beginning of the 19th century. Steam engines, tractors, engines, construction vehicles etc. are on display.

Open: Mon-Fri 10-16, Sat-Son 12-16.

Rademachersmedjorna
The Rademacher Forges from the 1650s is the oldest industrial area in Sweden where craftsmen still are at work. This heritage area is situated in the central part of Eskilstuna and is a popular place to visit all year round.

Here you will find handicrafts, markets and activities, concerts, guided tours, a summer theatre, a restaurant, a café and Eskilstuna tourist information.

Sörmlandsgården
Sörmlandsgården is an outdoor museum in the Djurgården area. It is a typical Swedish farm from the 1850s. During the summer lots of events like music, singing, theatre and handicraft days take place here.
